Golden Hour Cavapoos
Home and Happiness
Hi I'm Stephanie, the breeder behind the scenes at Golden Hour Cavapoos. However, this is a family affair. The whole household and then some come together to bring these puppies into the world. My wife is the photographer and creator of the beautiful bags that go home with each puppy. Our daughter is the record keeper, creative mind behind litter themes & professional puppy snuggler. Our son teaches each puppy the ins & outs of Minecraft, so preparing them for every Herobrine or Witherstorm encountered. Even our neighbor is part of the team. She is Bentley's guardian & forever mom.
This is a passion project, bringing joy to so many. I am so grateful for the opportunity to do what I love, with the people I love.

A Raw & Holistic Approach
We feed our dogs a balanced, raw diet. The food we eat is directly related to the health and well being of our bodies, minds and souls. This goes for us and our dogs. My eyes were opened to a raw fed diet about several years ago. The idea of kibble never sat well with me but until I discovered a Cavalier breeder who exclusively fed raw, I wasn't aware of any other options besides cooked chicken & rice. Rice is terrible for dogs I've since learned. Since then, food has become a passion, along with the holistic uses of foods as medicines, like garlic & ginger. If you want to learn more, I recommend the two books shown here: The Forever Dog by Dr. Karen Becker and Cleanse to Heal by Anthony William.

"The Raw Diet is an alternative to commercial dog food. It is based on the idea that dogs are carnivores and should eat a species-appropriate diet, which means a raw diet containing a minimum of raw meat, raw meaty bones, and organs.

There are several whole food raw diet options that provide your dog with species-appropriate nutrition including BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food), the Ancestral Diet, the Prey Diet Model, and commercially prepared pre-mixed raw food. "

At Golden Hour we incorporate aspects from both the Prey-Model and BARF?
"The Prey-Model and BARF represent the two different types of raw food diets you can feed your pet. While both are similar in their beliefs that your pet should be eating raw beef, organ and bones, there are a few differences in their overall philosophies. BARF stands for Biologically Appropriate Raw Food, though sometimes it is called bones and raw food.

The BARF diet follows the philosophy that your pet should have an omnivorous diet. Therefore, in addition to eating a raw diet of ground meat, bone and organ, your pet should also be consuming fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, and supplements, such as cod liver oil, garlic, ect.
The Prey-Model, also known as Primal, follows a philosophy that your pet, by nature, is a carnivore, and should be eating a diet that closely resembles what their predecessors, the wolf and wildcat, would eat in the wild. If you follow the Prey-Model, you will feed your pet a raw diet of 80% meat, 10% bone, such as animal feet, tails, backs, ribs, or necks, and 10% raw organ, 5% being liver and 5% other organs such spleen, kidneys, pancreas, lungs and tripe."
